When building a bundle in Easy Bundle Builder, it’s important to understand how products are organized. The builder follows a clear hierarchy:

  • Steps are the parents

  • Categories are the children

Understanding the difference between the two will help you design a smooth and intuitive bundle-building experience for your customers.

The Hierarchy at a Glance

Steps = Pages (Navigation)

Think of Steps as the floors of a building.

  • Each Step is a separate page or view.

  • To move from one Step to the next, customers must intentionally proceed (usually by clicking Next Step).

Categories = Sections (Content)

Think of Categories as the aisles on a single floor.

  • Categories live inside a Step.

  • Customers can browse multiple Categories on the same screen without reloading the page.

What Is a Step?

A Step represents a distinct stage in the bundle-building journey and creates a new page or view.

Function

  • Controls the navigation flow
    (Step 1 β†’ Step 2 β†’ Step 3)

When to Use a Step

  • Use Steps when you want to break the process into clear milestones.

Example

  • Step 1: Choose a Box

  • Step 2: Fill the Box

  • Step 3: Add a Greeting Card

What Is a Category?

A Category is a group of products displayed within a Step. It helps organize multiple collections on the same page.

Function

  • Groups products logically (for example, Tops vs. Bottoms) without forcing a page reload.

When to Use a Category

  • Use Categories when you want customers to mix and match items from different collections on the same screen.

Example

Inside Step 2: Fill the Box, you might have:

  • Category A: Snacks

  • Category B: Drinks

  • Category C: Merch

Common Scenarios: Which should I choose?

Scenario A: The "Outfit Builder"

Goal: You want customers to pick a Shirt and a pair of Pants on the same screen.

Setup:

  • 1 Step (Called "Build Your Look")

  • 2 Categories inside that Step (Category 1: Shirts, Category 2: Pants).

Scenario B: The "Gift Box"

Goal: You want customers to pick a Box first, and then pick the items to go inside.

Setup:

  • 2 Steps

    • Step 1: Pick a Box (Contains 1 Category: Boxes)

    • Step 2: Add Items (Contains multiple Categories: Candles, Soaps, Candy).
